Welcome baby Wayne Bradley Sheen!

I'm finally able to write about Wayne's birth story! I had a doctors appointment on Friday the 18. I was only dilated to a 2 and 80% effaced. I was hoping to get my membranes stripped but they said my cervix wasn't soft enough. So, they scheduled my induction on Monday the 28 and I scheduled an appointment on the 25 to have a non stress test. Needless to say, I was very frustrated.

My due date was Monday January 21. I started having contractions that night around 6:00 and I started timing them and they were about 10 minutes apart. This lasted until about 8:00. They slowly started getting closer together. I didn't want the contractions to stop so I started walking all around the house and brad followed me around with my phone to count my contractions. I would stop and do 10 jumping jacks and brad would do them with me. After doing this for about three hours my contractions started slowing down and had stopped. Brad was so devastated and just sat on the couch so sad. Since they had stopped we decided to go to bed. I didn't sleep at all because the contractions had started again. They started slow again, about ten minutes apart again. This went on all night and they slowly got closer together. At about 3:00 they were 4 1/2 minutes apart. I told brad and he said we should wait another half hour and wait until they are 4 minutes apart. At 3:30 they were 4 minutes and getting closer. I woke brad up and he got up and getting our last minute things packed while I stayed in bed. We left our house at about 4:00 and got to the hospital about 4:30.

We got checked into the hospital and got to our room. They hooked me up to the monitors and my contractions were 3-4 minutes apart. Brad told our moms and told them to come between 7:30 and 8:00. The nurse watched me at her desk for a little bit and then came back in and said that every time I have a contraction his heart rate drops. She said that if things don't get better there is a chance of a c-section. She said she called the doctor and told him what was going in and he was coming. He came in and talked to us and told us the same thing the nurse did. He watched me on the monitor for a while and then came in and said that he wants to give me my epidural and break my water to see if that gets things moving faster. After I got my epidural I felt so great. Brad said I even got loopy cause I felt so good. Then the doctor broke my water. They told me to stay on my right side and roll over each side every hour. Just a few minutes after that the nurse had me roll over on my left side. The monitor was behind me when I was on my right side so I couldn't see what was going on but his heart rate had dropped so that's why they turned me to my left side. By this time it was about 6:30ish I think. Dr. Rees came to take the next shift and him and dr Thorpe decided we should go to the OR. Brad told our moms and our parents got there as soon as they could. Someone gave me something to stop my contractions to see if that would stop his heart rate from dropping. They wheeled me to the OR and that is when I got nervous. I looked around and brad wasn't there. He was getting his clothes on for the c- section. We got to the OR and they hooked me up to the monitors and dr Rees wanted to watch me for 30 minutes. I was on oxygen and I couldn't see the monitor so I had no idea what was going on. My epidural started wearing off so they gave me more. Dr Rees said that things looked good and to take me back to my room. Right then his heart rate dropped to 70. He then said we need to do the c-section and to hurry things along. He came and talked to me and said he has a feeling we need to get this baby out and we need to do the c-section. He asked me if that's ok. I said of course.

They put me on the OR table and prepped me. They put a heater on my arms which was great because I was freezing. They told brad he could watch just to keep holding my hand. So he stood up and watched the whole thing. They cut me opened and when he saw Wayne he said 'there's a cute little face that's not supposed to be there. He was face up, posterior. That's probably why he was in distress. Also because the placenta was separating. He came out and he wasn't crying so they were patting him trying to get him to cry and he let out a little waa. It was so cute. They took him right into the other room to clean him up. When I saw the nurse walk by with him I started crying. Brad went into the room with the nurse while he got cleaned up. He came back with Wayne in his blanket and hat on. They were stitching me up so I couldn't hold him yet. I just kissed his sweet face. It was the best moment of my life seeing brad holding our son. When he came out brad cried a little but held back. Wayne Bradley Sheen was born on Tuesday January 21 at 8:41 a.m. he was 7lbs 2 oz. 19 1/2 inches long. And he had major cone head! no one knew how long he was in the birth canal. Brad took wayne to see our parents. After that they took him to the nursery and brad went too. They stitched me up and while they were I felt nauseous like I was going to throw up. I didn't, though! After they stitched me up they took me back to my room and our parents were there. We got my things ready so I could be moved to my recovery room. I still hadn't seen my baby! When we got to my recovery room brad finally came with Wayne. It was about 2 hours before I saw him. We did skin to skin and I had never been so on love! I couldn't believe all his hair and how cute he was. We had a lot of visitors after that and didn't sleep much that night. I'm glad in some ways it was a c-section because I was exhausted!

We went home on Thursday and that Ed a rough night! We didn't get any sleep. Wayne had his days and nights mixed up. We had a rough few nights and brad got less sleep then I did. After a few nights things got better and now Wayne wakes up once a night to eat. He's a great eater. We had to use the nipple shield for a while. He is a very good baby and is getting chunky! I love watching brad with him. He loves his boy more than anything! We both do! We can't imagine life without this sweet boy!

Our first Christmas being married!

As most of you know, Brad's most favorite holiday is Christmas. He told me this when we first started dating and I didn't really think anything of it. After our first Christmas together, I quickly realized how much he really did love it and I love that he loves it so much! He makes Christmas so much fun because he's like a little kid. It is especially fun now that we are married and we get to decorate our little home and buy Christmas things for our home. Yes, we put our Christmas decorations up before Thanksgiving, but it's fun to celebrate it for more that just a month. I love his love for Christmas and how much fun we've been having! Let that holiday's begin!I love this picture, my parents gave one to all of us two Christmas's ago. It's Santa picking up baby Jesus.
